Vinod Thavarool Puthiyedath

Vinod

I was born in Kerala, a southern state in India. I have obtained my Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kongju National University, South Korea and I have done my M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. After my Ph.D., I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Raz Jelinek’s group at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.

My Ph.D. thesis is based on nanoscale self-assembly methods to obtain multi-component inorganic nanostructures. During this work, I had developed methods for site specific growth of metal nanoparticles on semiconductor nanorods and bottom-up synthesis of multi-segmented inorganic nanowires. During my postdoctoral studies in Israel, I was involved in the study of directed self-assembly routes to functional nanostructured surfaces. Novel methods for in situ growth and assembly of nanostructures on various substrates were developed from these studies.

I joined Morin group at UNL in September 2015. Here I am engaged in research related to surface chemical processes aimed at controlled growth of micro/nanostructures assisted by mechanical maneuvering of the substrates.
